Churchill Wild is proud to announce that we have been shortlisted as a finalist in two categories at the prestigious 2017 PURE Awards — Contribution to Experiential Travel and Transformational Travel.

Churchill Wild co-founder Mike Reimer has been nominated for the Contribution to Experiential Travel Award, which honours an individual whose efforts have directly influenced the development of the experiential travel movement — a true maverick whose commitment, curiosity and daring sets new standards for the industry at large.

The co-owner of Churchill Wild along with his wife Jeanne, Mike has always been a true entrepreneur and adventurer. The first to offer polar bear walking safaris in northern Manitoba, Canada, he’s always been one step ahead in planning new Arctic adventures and experiences for guests.

From safe, on-the-ground polar bear encounters to an innovative way for people to snorkel with wild beluga whales, to a remote Tundra Camp set up in the Barren Lands for Arctic glamping, his insatiable curiosity for what’s possible keeps guests intrigued and engaged.

The Transformational Travel Award recognizes an immersive, perspective-shifting itinerary that challenges and inspires the sophisticated traveller on a deeply personal level, creating emotion through the powerful medium of storytelling and transforming their life for the better.

Churchill Wild has been nominated in the Transformational Travel category for Artic glamping in the Barren Lands of Manitoba. As part of the Churchill Wild Arctic Safari adventure, which also includes a stay at Seal River Heritage Lodge, Arctic glamping gives guests a taste of the vast Arctic tundra, while providing a signature, world-class experience during a two-night glamping adventure in the breathtaking, remote Barren Lands of northern Manitoba.

Set along the ancient migratory path of the Qaminurjuaq caribou herd, guests learn about the rich ecosystems of the area and explore a remote landscape that sees less people than the summit of Mount Everest – a truly a once-in a lifetime trip.

“It’s exciting to be nominated for such prestigious awards,” said Mike Reimer. “We’ve always tried to do our very best for our guests, and it’s very satisfying to be recognized for our efforts. We’re lucky to have such a great team in place at Churchill Wild. It’s definitely a team effort here, and none of this would have been possible without them.”
