Derek guides for Churchill Wild during our fall season, bringing his knowledge, jokes and endless energy to the field. Raised along the wild shores of Lake Superior, it was at a tender age that Derek first became fascinated by the natural world around him. He went on to earn a degree in biology and, while still hot from the press, he spread his wings and migrated to the Pacific.
Derek dabbled in the sciences for nearly a decade, combining his boundless curiosity for critters with opportunities to explore landscapes abroad. He has been fortunate enough to have participated in avian and wildlife research projects in Australia, Mexico and the western provinces of Canada.
For the last fifteen years however, Derek has been a full time Interpretative Guide/Naturalist, blissfully immersed in his bipolar passions. He is invigorated and excited by the prospect of soulful interaction with other wildlife enthusiasts and the privilege to learn from and meet new people from around the world.
